Adventure is always out there waiting for me... A perlino figure stood in front of the entrance to the Hall of Skies. Her stance was proud, her head was lifted high, and her body was slightly quivering with barely-contained excitement. She had always heard about this hedge maze of stone, that those who go in must keep a level head. Why? The twisting turns of the maze all look alike, and looking from the outside, the adventurer could see why. The broken archways and crumbling corridors all stretch towards the skies, easily the height of three horses on top of each other. There was no roof, so one could see the clear blue sky during the day and the starry heavens during the night. The bright sunlight reflected off the stones, and the sun stood silently right above. She could see the dangers now for herself. The maze was a feat in itself, and with the heat from the sun beating continuously from above, it is the perfect natural combination to confuse the individual, both mentally and physically. If one did not find a way out to the other side, one could surely die from lack of thirst--and ultimately, madness. She could only imagine how many have gone crazy and died from running in circles. I see... A devilish grin graced her maw. I wouldn't be surprised if I find a few skeletons in there. Rather than running from the danger she sees, the she-devil is going to run straight into the thick of it. It was a challenge, and she loves the rush of challenges. There was no other living soul around her. None that she has detected, at least. It was probably a bad idea to go into a maze by herself, but a challenge was here right in front of her and she was more than ready for it. WORDS: 304 | MUSE: good | MUSIC: x | NOTES: open to anyone! Luna stomped and looked in disdain around her surroundings. I have never seen such a dreadful place in my entire life. She was in the Death Desert, and whoever said it was a cool place was obviously lying. There is nothing here but brown, brown, and more brown! She huffed, and sneezed, as only a horse could. And all this dust! It can't be good for my health nor my beautiful coat.
Indeed, the light gray Shagya Arab was covered in dust, and it was miserable feeling. She had heard that the Death Desert had a cool place called Hall of Skies, and since she had nothing else to do, she decided to wander over and take a peek. However, she did not see anything out of the ordinary. Just rocky mountains on one side and sand dunes on the other side. Trudging through the desert had been no easy feat, but she was tired already. Tired and dusty and miserable. Oh, what would I give for a cool bath right now! She could have been home in Silverwynne, where there is lush vegetation and greens everywhere. But she was here instead.
"That's it," she muttered, climbing up a particularly tall sand dune. "I'm going home." Once she reached the top, however, she saw a strange sight. Below her was a flat area, and in the middle was some sort of circular structure. The stones were falling into pieces and crumbling to dangerous degrees, but it was still impressive nonetheless. With a start, she realized that it must be the famed Hall of Skies!
"That's it? Just some decaying ruins? How disappointing." She was about to turn around when something caught her eye. A pale horse standing by the entrance to the maze. No, not standing, but prancing around in an inelegant and rambunctious manner. Curious, she slowly made her way down the sand dune, hoping not to spook the other horse.

"AIN'T FROM NO HEAVEN" Hestia snorted and reared into the air. This feisty gal was ready to charge in. Probably not a good idea, but heck, she was young and full of hot blood. She was about to do just that when she noticed a shadow behind her from the corner of her eye. With a jolt, she realized she was not alone. She instantly dropped down to her fours and swung her head around, facing the stranger. "Who are you?" She called out, bold and unabashed. "I'm gonna get through this maze! Want to come join me? Two heads are better than one!" She was not sure if the other equine was going to take her up on her offer, but might as well invite them. She looked closer, and noticed the feminine shape of the horse. Yay, another mare! As long as she was not a drama queen like her, Hestia could deal with it. "Come on, what are you waiting for?!" Her hooves shuffled restlessly, stirring up desert dust. "Or if you really don't want to go in with me, you can always watch me from up there." With a toss of her mane, she motioned towards a high ledge by the side of the mountain. Then an idea struck her. "Actually, that would be perfect! You can guide me through it since you can see everything!" She was just rambling along as if she already expected the other female to join her. "So, what do you say? It'll be fun!"WORDS: 250 | MUSE: 5/10 | MUSIC: x | TAG: ~Luna~ NOTES: They'll make a pair haha! And sorry, low muse today Kagney @ Adox

Luna did not expect the other mare to start talking to her. Not just that, but also to join her? She shook her head, mane flying. Who is this crazy girl? The other mare looked young, but perhaps not too far from her own age. Her personality was different, though. Very different.
"Uh, who are you?" She called out. Of all things, her hooves started walking by themselves towards the other mare. Her question seemed to be ignored, as the other mare continued calling out her invitation to join her. She was not in the mood for this. She was about to say something about respecting your elders when the youngling took it a step further.
"What? You want me to watch and guide you?" She could hardly believe her ears. A graceful and pretty lady as herself, giving directions to another horse? Has the world gone upside down? Just the fact that she was holding company with such a spirited one was already out of her comfort zone.
But on the other hoof, she had been without company for a long time. Luna looked at the prancing horse. Perhaps it would do her good to socialize a bit. Although the other mare seemed to have a different idea of socializing. For her, it would be standing under some shade by the Moon Pool and having a nice conversation. This...social event of giving directions to a rampaging youngling?
"All right." She heard herself say. Wait, what? How did that happen? She signed as she made her way to the place the young mare described. This was not going according to plan. Not at all.

THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE Hesita was certainly a restless one, and could not keep still. She was just itching to go in, but she was still waiting for her new ally to respond. "Uh, who are you?""Hestia! The name's Hesita!" She called out, her hooves stirring up a little dust storm in her anxiety and haste to move and just go. Can't she just agree and help her already? Or refuse if she really wanted to. "Just make up your mind!" If she was anywhere else, she was sure to be heavily scolded and reprimanded for her attitude towards an older mare, but she did not care now. Her dam was not nearby, her herd members were not here, she was free. "What? You want me to watch and guide you?"Her head bobbled up and down. "Yes! Please!" She added the second word as almost an afterthought. She still had some manners, after all. Not like she was raised by a pack of wild hyenas. To her great excitement, the other mare agreed and started going towards that ridge she mentioned earlier. "Great!" And she dashed in. The maze was really a work of art, even in its decaying state. In fact, the naturalness of it all gave it its own unique atmosphere. As Hesita entered in, even she was struck in awe. She did not know how it came about, but it was really cool to her young eyes. As she made her winding way, she hit a junction. There was a way to her left and a way to her right. Which way should she go? She glanced up. She hoped her new friend could see her and could see the way out. "Which way?" She called. In a way, her life was in the hooves of the other mare, who could very well give her the wrong directions and just leave her. Of course, Hestia was not going to let that happen so easily, but she certainly had a lot of guts to throw her trust on basically a stranger. When Luna reached the ledge where the young mare had pointed out, she realized that the other was indeed right. She had a clear view of the maze, and also of the surrounding area. It was a glorious sight, standing on high grounds. She could see Death Desert from more of a bird's eye view, and it was more beautiful than she thought. The various shades of reds and yellows, the highs and lows of sand dunes...it was a sight to behold.
Her attention was diverted by a puff of smoke down by the rocky maze. The hot-headed female was gone. Then she noticed movement within the maze. "This filly," she muttered, "dashing in like that..." she watched the mare--Hesita, was it?--made her way through the twists and turns. Until she hit a junction and looked up to her for direction.
Luna looked carefully for the exit. It made sense for her to work their way backwards. After a few minutes, she had traced her way to the waiting adventurer. "Go right!" She called down. Off in the distance, a dark cloud was forming and slowly moving its way towards the Hall of Skies...

LIFE IS EITHER A DARING ADVENTURE OR NOTHING Hesita stomped on the ground imapatiently. What was the other mare doing? Why was she taking so long? It was simple, right? Left or right, that was it. What was taking so long? After what felt like an eternity and a half, she finally heard someone. "Go right!""Finally!" She snorted, loud enough for Luna to hear if she was listening closely. She went to the right, and was immediately faced with another decision. On the spur of the moment, she took a sharp right, not waiting for directions. There were a few more twists and turns, but then she almost went headfirst towards a dead end. "Oops..." Without missing a beat, she backtracked. After what seemed where she was before, she took a left this time. Unknown to the two females, there was a sandstorm coming their way. Hestia noticed that there was a slight stirring in the air, but she figured it must be just a desert wind. But she did not think much of it. After all, she could not see above the walls of the maze. Out of sight, out of mind, right? If one did not see danger, it does not exist. Or so she thought. WORDS: 201 | MUSE: 7/10 | MUSIC: x | TAG: ~Luna~ NOTES: Quick short one heh Kagney @ Adox

[googlefont=Parisienne][googlefont=Raleway] ☽ Luna ☾ Luna snorted. She had heard the filly's exasperated "Finally!" "Wow, rude." She muttered. She could very well just leave the other mare in the maze all by herself. And from the looks of it, she did not look like she would be missed either way, since the crazy girl was taking chances and making her own decisions.
The Shagya Arabian watched as the minx went right at the next junction, which was the wrong way. "Hey! The other way! Left!" She shouted, but did not know if Hestia could hear her. For some reason, the wind was picking up, and it carried her voice up and away. "Huh?" She looked up, and a saw the dark shape of a sandstorm. It was still quite far off, but there was no knowing how fast it would travel. Best to get out of there. And fast.
"Hestia! There's a sandstorm coming!" She wasn't sure if she could be heard, though. "Hurry, go backwards and get out of there!"

LIFE GETS KINDA BORING Hestia did not see nor hear the other mare's expression - she only saw what was up ahead, whether her way was blocked or not. When she had arrived back at the place where she chose the wrong way, she took the opposite. So left... It was such great fun, weaving in and out through crumbling stone. It was an adventure, and her young heart was almost bursting. This was living life! Oooh, three directions this time? This time, there were three paths that laid before her: left, right, or ahead. Again she looked up to Luna, who she hoped was still keeping an eye on her. "Now what?" She called up. She felt the stirrings of wind, and some sand flew into her eyes. "Oww!" She blinked and shook her head fiercely. The sand stung her eyes. What's going on? She heard the mare say something, but she did not quite catch it all. "Sand something? Yes, I got sand in my eyes, but don't worry, I'm good now!" She strained to hear the other words. "Go backwards? But why?" She hesitated. Why did she have to go backwards? The other way she took was to a dead end - the only way out was forward, but there were three choices. Which one was it? "Which one?" She called again, as loud as she could. [googlefont=Parisienne][googlefont=Raleway] ☽ Luna ☾ Luna was up in the air now. The young mare could not seem to hear her--or perhaps she did not want to. Either way, they were getting into serious trouble. The sandstorm was getting closer and the wind was picking up. "Heavens above, how did I get myself into this situation..." She muttered. She looked down at the maze. There were some parts were the walls have crumbled and Hestia could cut through. Yes, but she would have to make sure she is heard above the wind.
"Go straight!" Yes, if only Hestia could hear here, she would be able to get out of the maze just fine. But from what she has been from the feisty youngling, she had a sliver of doubt about that. Up ahead, Hestia would run into another fork, to which Luna would yell out "Left!" Every now and then she would look up to track the progress of the sandstorm, which was coming closer and closer, minute by minute.

EVERYTHING THAT KILLS ME MAKES ME FEEL ALIVE Hestia really had to strain to hear the other mare's voice, which now seemed full of worry and urgency. There also seemed to be a hint of fear, and it sobered her. She had to pay attention, as the older equine seemed frazzled and stressed. "Straight?" She repeated. "Okay!" There were a few walls that were broken down, not completely ruined but broken enough to step above and over them. She had to be careful though, some of the rocky edges were still sharp. She kept going until she hit a wall. The perlino closed her eyes, trying to focus on the guiding voice. "Left? Got it!" Whatever was worrying the other mare, it seemed to be big. What had started off as a fun adventure had turned into a timed challenge. It was electrifying, and the adrenaline coursed through her veins. She had never felt so alive, with this added element of danger. Up ahead, she saw a path that opened up to the outside. Her legs scrambled towards it, and before she knew it, she was standing outside the maze, a triumphant look in her eyes and stance. However, it was also now that she saw the sandstorm that had caused the other ungulate so much worry. "Oh..." She breathed. For a few moments, she stared transfixed at the natural wonder before her. It was a thing to behold, both terrifying and fascinating at the same time. Now that she was out of the maze, she looked up at where the older mare stood with a saucy smile. "Great meeting you! I'll return the favor someday!" And with that, she flounced her tail and ran off, back towards her home herd. She was sure they would meet again someday.
