The brilliant red bird that rode atop her withers made a soft sound that was otherwise incomprehensible to anyone who wasn't bonded to it. "If you've got such a problem with being here, you have the option to leave, bird." She was under no grand delusions nor did she want to give her feathered companion the idea she was trying to hold it against its will. It was free to come and go as it saw fit to do. Nascha had once been held captive by humans and in truth, she would not wish the curse of captivity on even her worst enemy... regardless of how annoying said enemy may have been. If she hadn't been careful - if she hadn't listened to that soft voice that tugged on the edges of her very soul - she could have easily grown dependent on those two-legged monsters. While she was glad for the fact she had not allowed herself to become dependent, the fact remained that she hadn't really had much motivation, apart from the whisper in the wind, to not become as soft and as complacent as any of the other horses those humans had claimed to have dominion over.
To think, such mighty, graceful creatures could become so subservient to a lesser species. Without the supposed domestication of horses, humans would have been lost several times over, both in battle and in their daily lives. It made her blood boil, just to think about it. The indigenous people, in her mind, had the right idea. Horses were not meant to be someone's property. They were wild and free and as restless as the wind that seemed to guide them. They had never made claims to own horses nor had they given them names.
Once their partnership ended, horses had even been able to return to their real home. At least, that was what the children who came to dote on her in her stall had told her. They had filled her head with such pretty sentiment and she had wanted so badly to believe them, even if she knew in her heart of hearts she couldn't trust them. One day, they would grow up to become as vile and as senseless as their parents. Even foals were too cute for words until they grew up and developed minds of their own. She knew from experience and not because she had ever had the chance to become a mother but, rather, she knew what it was like to be young and feel like she was invincible. She also remembered rather clearly how her innocence had often gotten her in trouble.
She thankfully hadn't come across any other horses yet. Even so, she found her way to the land where she would be able to find a home. More than that, she would find a place to belong. The red owl flapped its wings in a rather disgruntled fashion, and she found herself snorting with idle amusement but not responding beyond that. The further she got into the area, the stronger the stench of stale desperation and pheromones hit her. Her nostrils slowly quivered, drawing it all in. Was that every wild area around here or was that specific to just this place?
Her dark eyes drank in the scenery with silent admiration. She could certainly get used to a place like this. "Perhaps, somebody will deem me worthy enough to join their ranks..." She mused, her limbs soon feeling every bit as tired as the rest of her. She hadn't felt so awkward on her own hooves since she had been a spindly filly. "For now, though, I am going to rest and you will do... whatever it is birds do." The owl pecked at Nascha's crest, silently voicing its displeasure at the crack she had made at its expense. tag: Enchantress word count: 637 muse: never going back - the score notes: be gentle, pls.

XERXES meet me and meet evil A powerful figure prowled the perimeters of the Temple, his ebony pelt a stark contrast from the bright shades of the afternoon. Smokey oynx blankets him like a fog—thick, dark, and intense. Everything about him coal-black. Even his eyes are of a somber shade. He has no markings to tarnish his sable hide, except the faint silver that outlines his bold frame. His build is muscular and buff, almost always nicely in shape. In fact, every muscle of his being can be clearly seen and defined. It was as if his very presence tainted the sacred grounds, like musk over the fog. No one said he was all bright and innocent, and he certainly did not claim to be so. Xerxes, the infamous brute. For the moment, he was alone, and he relished in the solitude. However, as things usually go, he would not be alone for very long. This place, though not heavily traveled, could always boost of its ideal meeting spot. Hence why his steps had turned towards this direction. His recent interactions with other equines had only fueled his desire for more. One had succumbed to him, and the other had fled. Either way, he had enjoyed both outcomes immensely. However, this stallion had not always been entirely tainted in his ways and mindset. His very beginnings had been troubling and full of unrest. His father and mother had both died suddenly when he was young; hence, his never knowing them. Finding no place among his sire's circle of friends, he gradually excluded himself and shut himself from the world. Crawling into his shell of cold resentment, there he stays for the most of his years. His belief is that no one cares for him, and thus, he need not care of anyone else. Whether that setback is to change, only the future could tell. But for now, the Temple and all within it was his. Clear eyes scanned within the grounds, and to his delight, landed on a lone figure. A feminine figure. A dark maw curled on the edges of his maw. Looks like his trek here would not be in vain. She would do. As he neared the equine, he noted her sleek form and fine patterns. He did not bother to hide his presence, letting his powerful aura radiate before him. He had caught a few words of what she was saying, and noted that she was addressing an owl. It was a strange sight, something he had never seen before, but there was always the first time. "You're always welcomed to join my ranks, darling." There was still quite a distance between them, but still within speaking range. Females were complicated creatures, and he never knew how they would react. However, he always enjoyed the ones who fought back. "Are you looking for a place to stay, sweetie? I know of the perfect place for you."WORDS: 484 | TAG: 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐯𝐚🌈™ | MUSIC: xNOTES: The bad boy is out xD SWANSKI[googlefont=oswald][googlefont=Allura]

While the bird had not been the first to notice the unfamiliar presence of the stallion, it had been the first to react. It reacted by angrily flapping its wings and fluffing out its plumage. It was evident the bird did not trust this ebony beast in the slightest and while Nascha certainly did not base her decisions or opinions off of how others reacted, she relinquished a sigh all the same. She had seen his kind before. He probably thought he was a gift to everyone and stroked his own ego more than anyone else ever could or would. He probably even thought it was his purpose in life to spread his seed as far as the eye could see. A small smirk of her own began to tug at her lips.
At last, she turned to face him, the tiredness having been chased from her muscles, however momentarily. Her bodily exhaustion had gave way to something that closely resembled adrenaline. Her tail flicked purposefully, seemingly with annoyance. "Do you make a habit of not introducing yourself and not learning the names of others?" She inquired, her honeyed words holding the smallest twinge of venom. "My name is Nascha and if you have any hope whatsoever of enticing me to join you, I suggest you change your attitude and stop acting like an entitled brat." Her mouth would one day land her in trouble and she knew that but refused to bite her tongue.
Even though the bird bad seemed to relax, it still kept its eery cyan blue eyes on the stallion. "To chase away any doubts you may have, I have no intentions of running. I have some small measure of pride and cowardice would be contradictory to that sense of hard-won pride." There was a moment's pause. "The next move is yours and if I were you, I would say your next words very carefully and adjust your attitude accordingly." She spoke bluntly, her dark eyes glimmering with something akin to defiance. This bumbling fool who thought far too highly of himself would probably take her advice and trample on it, all in an effort to put her in her place.
The owl's soft, indignant hoot sounded almost dismissive. For once, she was inclined to agree with it. Even so, she would give this muscled moron a chance to redeem himself before the pieces fell wherever they fell. There wasn't an inkling of fear in the way she regarded him, but there was curiosity. There was also the smallest hope he was more than he appeared to be. The time between her speaking and his response seemed to stretch on for eternity. She had never been the most patient individual, but she waited all the same and made sure to bite her tongue. tag: Enchantress word count: 464 muse: never going back - the score notes: sorry for her. xD

XERXES meet me and meet evil A dark grin grew on the brute's maw as he heard her words about his introduction—or the lack of it. "Well, you can call me anything, honey." He grinned. It was almost as if her words had little effect on him. How he did like a feisty femme, they were much more interesting to interact with, and more satisfying when they are finally tamed. From the looks of it, she had a strong and independent spirit, and he looked forward in seeing how she would react to him. Something told him she would definitely keep him on his hooves. Ah, Nascha, is it? Some mares did not even bother to give out their names, but when they did, it meant the first steps were being taken towards something more. "Xerxes' the name. The utmost pleasure to meet you, Nascha." He purred, almost sounding like a growl with his deep masculine voice. "I'm afraid you'll have to teach me, m'lady. I'm full of bad habits and attitude." He had no problems talking about his weaknesses. As if to prove his point, the stallion flicked his banners proudly, arching his neck and showing off how his muscles rippled underneath his sleek pelt. If she wanted him to play by her rules, he had no problems with that. For now. At the owl's hoot, the stag's ears twitched. A tiny part of him was curious as to what kind of relationship was between the equine and the bird, but was much too proud to ask about it. That would only give her an edge above him, and like heck he would give in so easily. At least she admitted that she would not be one to run, which he was pleased to note. He took a few careless strides closer, his attitude nonchalant. "So, what are you doing here all by yourself, sweet Nascha?" WORDS: 311 | TAG: 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐯𝐚🌈™ | MUSIC: xNOTES: No, it's perfect! If he wasn't going to give an inch, neither was she. Still, the shift in attitude was almost promising. She knew it was temporary and meant to put her at ease. When he felt the need to flex, she couldn't help the amused snort that followed. "As attractive as you might be physically, honey, it doesn't mean anything to me when your personality leaves much to be desired." She continued to regard him almost curiously, not backing up or otherwise giving him the satisfaction of making it seem she was at all uncomfortable with his slow, methodical approach. The owl that still clung to her withers shifted uncomfortably and hopped from her withers to rest on her spine, its brilliant red feathers catching the sun just so and giving off the appearance of a flame that had been ignited.
Honestly, even if the ebony stud had asked, she wouldn't have been able to give a straight answer. She wasn't a mind reader and she didn't speak bird. Regardless, no longer having the bird's talons digging into her withers brought her some small amount of comfort, even if it was only temporary. She pondered his question and heaved a sigh. "Six months ago, I was among humans. I made my grand escape and came here in search of a fresh start... away from their wickedness." She spoke plainly and as much as she tried to hide it, a look of sadness briefly crossed her features.
For six months, she had been on her own... not counting the bird. She was both glad for its company and somewhat resentful of it. If there happened to be trouble, it could choose to get away with a few flaps of its wings, whereas the best she could do would be to run and she had already made it rather clear she was done with running. She tossed her head in Xerxes's direction. "And what brings you here, Xerxes? Not enough desperate, feeble-minded fillies to temper your boredom wherever you happen to come from?" Though her words bordered upon sweet, there was still that twinge of venom. tag: Enchantress word count: 350 muse: never going back - the score notes: sorry for her. xD

XERXES meet me and meet evil The dark stallion was becoming more amused and interested in this mare the more she talked. She had a sharp tongue, and it only aroused him rather than putting him off. "Why, you wound me, my lady." He feigned a look of hurt, though he was anything but. "But your own words betray you, sweetie. So you do agree that I'm attractive." He smirked, catching on to what she had said about him. He had taken a few more steps closer the more the conversation progressed, and he was now about five strides from the pretty mare. Still not as close as he would like, but it was progress. At least she did not shy away, like some other he knew before. "Humans? What's that?" If she had wanted to throw him off, she had certainly succeeded. It was something he had never heard before, as equines in WildWhispers had no inklings of the said species. At best, those two-legged creatures were minor characters in their legends, but nothing more than that. To cover up his blunder, he snorted noisily, then quickly adjusted his posture to one of pity and empathy. "Whatever they are, I'm sure you'll enjoy this place more. Especially with me around." He was not one to sell himself short, and certainly did not hold back now. "You bring me here, what else?" Xerxes answered back smoothly, dark eyes gleaming. Whatever venom she had aimed to ruffle him did not seem to affect him much. His nose snaked out to sniff at the female's scent. It was different, presumably because of those other creatures she had mentioned before. Different, but not without its intrigue. Her sweet aroma was what really caught his attention. Whether wild or tame, those feminine perfumes never ceased to lose their alluring temptations. Coupled with her fiery attitude, he knew she would please him well, if not already. "Mmm you smell sweet." He growled. Taking a few more steps closer, he eyed her form boldly, raking over her shapely curves with undisguised interest...and something more. He was so lucky, but she didn't tell him that. Instead, she merely sighed. When he dared to draw closer, she took it upon herself to close the distance between them. He was taking too long and his attitude was grating on her last nerve. At the rate he was going, she would die long before he actually made his move. She extended her neck slowly, lipping at his shoulder. His masculine scent filled her nostrils and even though it was unfamiliar, it was not unwelcome or even unpleasant. The lithe muscles in her shoulders began to twitch. " Stop playing coy and take what you want, so you can whisk me away to whatever fresh hell awaits me in parts unknown." Although she hadn't told him as much, he would be the first to explore such uncharted territory. With any luck, he would also be the last. That wasn't to say she had grand delusions but, rather, with an attitude like that, there was a tiny part of her that didn't see whatever this was lasting. Though she chose not to think about it, he was probably the sort to cause hate and discontent wherever he went. That same attitude would likely lead him to ruin. Uncertainty started to flutter in her stomach as she began to realize the weight of what was most likely about to transpire. If he even considered leaving her alone to raise a foal she hadn't really seen happening so soon, she would find a way to haunt him. The owl took flight, finding a perch that gave the pair some privacy. At least, she didn't have to worry about the stupid thing being crushed by the stallion. Maybe she would get luckier and it would just... leave. Her head started to grow fuzzy as her mind began to wander. For now, it was how she chose to cope. tag: Enchantress word count: 312 muse: never going back - the score notes: -ded-

She still quivered from their encounter. She scarcely had the presence of mind to stand. He had robbed her of all conscious thought. Her dark gaze slowly lifted, catching sight of the owl whose fiery plumage was impossible not to spot. Knowing the end was near - that the sun was setting on her stolen time with a stallion she should've never associated with, to begin with - she made her way to a shady spot. She didn't say anything as she laid down and closed her eyes. How quickly she had fallen from grace, all in a bid to find a home. Her search had proved fruitless, at best, and she released a tired sigh. It had been foolish of her to come to such a place. With the humans, she'd had to endure various forms of torture and degradation, certainly, but she had also been given meals, a safe place to rest her weary bones and screaming children to be endlessly amused by. Here, she was coming to find just how little she knew. She wasn't sure what she would accomplish in coming here, considering the last time she had been in the wild, she had been a filly who relied solely on her mother for warmth, sustenance and protection. " You are dismissed." She said quietly, masking her inner turmoil and letting the words tumble out before he had a chance to just... leave. tag: Enchantress word count: 235 muse: never going back - the score notes: -ded-

XERXES meet me and meet evil The beast heard her whimpers and it was stirring the flames in him once more. Quite interesting, as it was rare for him to go a second time with someone. However, from the looks of it, the mare could not handle another round. In addition, it was her first time, and he was not surprised that it had sapped so much of her energy. Xerxes allowed her to nip him, while a few thoughts ran through his mind. He hoped she was not the clingy type - he really disliked those who clung onto him when all he wanted was a one night affair. Thus, he was delighted to hear her farewell upfront. No strings attached. She appeared to be taking it well, and those who understood that made everything easier. "Till next time then, honey." The dark beast gave her one last nip on the ear before turning to go. She was covered all over in his scent, marking her as his. He smirked. He could not have asked for anything better. The more they pushed him away, the more interested he was in coming back. For now, though, they both needed their time to recover. But he would be back. Her cold dismissal had confirmed that for him.
